If you’ve admired diamond bracelets before I’m sure you’ve heard the term “tennis bracelet.” This refers to a specific style, once called an eternity bracelet, that holds individually set diamonds all in a straight line.
But what does it have to do with tennis!?
At the 1987 U.S. Open, the former World No. 1 woman tennis player and the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, Chris Evert was wearing an in-line diamond bracelet. The clasp broke and it accidentally fell off her wrist. The match was suspended allowing Chris to recover her diamond bracelet. Since this incident, the bracelet has become known as a diamond tennis bracelet.
The incident sparked a new fashion trend in diamond tennis bracelets. Other players, like Gabriela Sabatini and Serena Williams, followed and started wearing diamond bracelets while playing tennis. Because of this bracelets are flexible they are comfortable to wear, even for playing sports!
Not just for tennis players!
Over the years tennis bracelets have become an elegant fashion statement and make great gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions.
